At HopLocal, all bookings work on a request basis.
This means guests can send you a booking request, and you always stay in control — you can accept or decline requests based on your availability.
How availability works on HopLocal
By default, your listing calendar is kept open during your standard business hours:
- If your business hours are connected via Google Places, we use those.
- If Google Places is not available, your calendar is automatically set to default: Monday to Sunday/ 12:00 PM – 10:00 PM (local time)
Multiple booking slots will appear on your listing page based on the duration of your event.
Important to know:
These are not instant-booking slots. Guests cannot book without your approval.
We strongly recommend keeping this default setup because:
✅ Your listing stays more visible in search results
✅ You won’t miss out on potential bookings
✅ You can always decline a request and suggest a new date if needed
👉 That said, if you already know you’re unavailable on a specific date, you can block it manually by following the steps below.
How to block a specific date
These steps work best on a laptop or desktop.
- Log in to your HopLocal account
- Click your profile picture (top right)
- Select Listings
- Click the
pencil icon to edit your listing
- Scroll down to Your Calendar and click to expand it
- Uncheck
Repeat Days - Add Start date and End date
- Save changes

Example: Let’s say you wish to block 25 January 2026
- Set the dates as follows:
- Start date: Today (or any earlier date)
- End date: 24 January 2026 (the day before the date you want to block)
- Click the Duplicate icon (top-right of the calendar section) to adjust the new date range:
- Start date: 26 January 2026
- End date: Any future date (for example, 31 December 2026)
- Click Save changes
🎉 That’s it!
The selected date (in this case, 25 January 2026) will no longer appear as available on your calendar.
